“I developed her portfolio across five to six sessions, each one building upon the last. Her portfolio includes a few editorials and I attempted some commercial shots, but I didn’t. Like them and so declined to add them. She possesses a commanding physique and an, intense face qualities that demand both precision and vision in how they are translated through the lens.
Interestingly I never photographed her here at home, our sessions were usually in LA where she resided. We also developed her book in Mexico and Hawaii as well.
While my intention is always to position the work within a high fashion and editorial framework, I’ve come to understand that those markets are not confined to a singular aesthetic. High fashion can manifest in many forms through mood, restraint, power, vulnerability, architecture of light, or narrative depth. Each session explored a different expression of that language, expanding the range of how her presence could live within the editorial space.” -SHAMAYIM
