SHAMAYIM (pronounced shaw-mah'-yim) is an internationally celebrated fashion and editorial photographer based in New York City, which he lovingly refers to as Gotham. Known for his signature style—a masterful blend of cinematic drama, cultural richness, and a profound dedication to the craft—Shamayim’s work embodies a deep narrative perspective that captivates and inspires. His striking visual storytelling has graced the pages of premier publications and led to collaborations with top luxury brands, cementing his reputation as a leading figure in the fashion industry.
With close to two decades of experience, Shamayim’s distinct artistry has garnered awards and accolades, including recognition by TIME Magazine as one of the "12 Great African American Photographers." SOCA — The Shamayim Shacaro School of Creative Arts
SOCA is a Brooklyn-based program dedicated to the cultivation of creative excellence, discipline, and self-mastery within the African American community. Founded by Shamayim, SOCA exists to develop the technical, entrepreneurial, and intellectual capacity of young African American men—nurturing not only creative talent, but clarity of mind, strength of spirit, and professional purpose.
Rooted in both artistry and structure, the program provides academic support, hands-on technical training, and real-world business education across the creative industries. SOCA is designed to transform raw potential into refined skill, and ambition into sustainable careers—empowering the next generation of image-makers, thinkers, and leaders emerging from Brooklyn.
The program is fully funded to ensure access without financial burden. SOCA is sustained by 10% of all SHAMAYIM bookings, 100% of proceeds from the SHAMAYIM Online Masterclass, 100% of proceeds from SHADAI Magazine, and charitable contributions. This is not charity—it is investment. An investment in culture, in legacy, and in the future of our community.
