Secondary Assistants are trusted, city-based collaborators engaged when SHAMAYIM is producing at his home in NYC or outside of New York. These roles are essential to maintaining continuity, efficiency, and studio standards across global productions. As a Secondary Assistant, you are expected to operate with the same professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail as the NYC core team, representing SHAMAYIM Studios with excellence in every environment.

This position is ideal for assistants who understand the rhythm of professional sets and can integrate seamlessly into high-level productions with minimal direction.

Core Responsibilities

On-Set Support & Technical Assistance

• Assist with the setup and breakdown of lighting equipment, modifiers, grip gear, and camera systems

• Support the lead assistant and photographer by anticipating needs and responding quickly to on-set adjustments

• Help maintain order, safety, and efficiency throughout the shoot day

Production Flow & Logistics

• Facilitate smooth shoot days through proactive problem-solving and attentive support

• Assist with wardrobe steaming, equipment transport, and general production coordination as needed

• Offer local logistical knowledge, vendor familiarity, or location insight when applicable

Creative & BTS Documentation

• Capture behind-the-scenes photo and video content that reflects the elegance, intimacy, and energy of the production

• Move discreetly on set, understanding when to document and when to disappear

• Maintain artistic sensitivity while preserving the integrity of the creative process

Set Environment & Conduct

• Help maintain a clean, focused, and respectful work environment at all times

• Uphold the studio’s standards of professionalism, discretion, and calm presence

• Support positive collaboration among crew, talent, and creative teams

Requirements & Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience assisting on editorial, commercial, or fashion photography sets

• Familiarity with foundational lighting techniques, grip equipment, and camera systems

• Strong attention to detail and an ability to read on-set dynamics and energy cues

• Comfortable capturing behind-the-scenes photo and video content with intention and restraint

• Physically capable of fast-paced shoot environments and equipment handling
