Production Hours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: 68 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY
Production: Multiple Editorial Productions & SHADAI Magazine Cover
Lead Photographer & Creative Director: SHAMAYIM
Production Assistant: William Antonio
Position: Second Photography Assistant (2 Positions)
1. PRODUCTION OVERVIEW
SHAMAYIM will be producing several fashion editorials, including a cover production for SHADAI Magazine, throughout the day on Saturday, October 31.
This production will involve multiple models, creative teams, wardrobe changes, hair and makeup, lighting setups, and editorial concepts. Given the number of productions taking place throughout the day, maintaining an organized workflow, coordinating transitions, and documenting the creative process are essential.
The Second Photography Assistants will work directly alongside Production Assistant William to support the overall production flow, assist with logistical coordination, and ensure that the activities taking place throughout the day are properly documented.
An especially important component of this position is behind-the-scenes documentation through both still photography and video.
We are not simply looking for individuals to observe the production. We need assistants who are attentive, proactive, organized, visually aware, and capable of recognizing important moments as they happen.
The objective is to ensure that while SHAMAYIM is focused on photographing the editorials, the production itself is being documented and the operational aspects of the day continue to run smoothly.
COMPENSATION & CREDIT
This is a non-commercial editorial production being developed for SHAMAYIM Studios and SHADAI Magazine. Participation in this production is unpaid. There is no monetary compensation, hourly rate, stipend, or additional payment associated with this assignment.
In recognition of each team member's contribution, all participating creative team members, including Second Photography Assistants, will receive professional credit in the printed edition of SHADAI Magazine, where applicable to the production credits.
This assignment provides an opportunity to collaborate on multiple fashion editorials and a magazine cover under the creative direction of SHAMAYIM, while contributing to a published editorial production.
Please understand the following:
This is a collaborative, non-paid editorial assignment.
Participation is voluntary.
All participating team members will receive appropriate print credit in SHADAI Magazine.
This is not a commercial client assignment or paid advertising campaign.
No additional financial compensation is offered for participation.
By participating in this production, team members acknowledge and accept the non-paid nature of the assignment and the credit arrangement outlined above.
2. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Behind-the-Scenes Photography & Videography
<THIS IS A PRIORITY RESPONSIBILITY>
One of the most important expectations for the Second Photography Assistants is capturing the creative process behind the production.
SHAMAYIM Studios regularly develops visual content for its marketing, social media, portfolio, publication, and promotional materials. The documentation captured throughout this production will provide valuable insight into the creative process and the level of production involved in developing professional fashion editorials.
Assistants will be expected to capture a combination of still photographs and video footage.
Still Photography — Capture:
SHAMAYIM working with models during editorial sessions.
Behind-the-scenes moments of SHAMAYIM directing and positioning models.
Creative direction and communication between the photographer and models.
Makeup artists working on models during preparation.
Hair stylists creating and refining looks.
Wardrobe stylists preparing garments, accessories, and editorial looks.
Models preparing for their individual sessions.
Details of wardrobe, accessories, shoes, beauty products, and set elements.
Lighting setups, equipment arrangements, and studio preparation.
Creative team interactions and collaborative moments.
Wide environmental photographs showing the production space.
Portraits and candid moments of the creative team at work.
Video Documentation — Capture:
Short video clips of SHAMAYIM directing and photographing models.
Models moving, posing, and interacting with the camera during sessions.
Makeup and hair preparation.
Wardrobe adjustments and styling processes.
The transformation from preparation to the finished editorial look.
Video of the photographer working behind the camera.
Creative team discussions and direction.
Studio walkthroughs and environmental footage.
Transitions between editorial concepts and models.
Short clips that communicate the scale and atmosphere of the production.
Important: Do not limit documentation to posed or staged behind-the-scenes footage. We want authentic documentation of the actual production process. Capture the details, interactions, preparation, movement, and creative energy that make each editorial possible.
Look for moments that tell a story.
B. Production Flow & Coordination
Second Photography Assistants will work under the direction of William Gomes to help maintain the production schedule and facilitate transitions between editorial sessions.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with the coordination of models as they arrive.
Helping ensure models are directed to the appropriate preparation areas.
Communicating with the production team regarding session transitions.
Assisting with keeping the production area organized.
Helping coordinate movement between hair, makeup, wardrobe, and photography.
Being attentive to the progression of each editorial session.
Helping prepare the next model or creative team while the current session is taking place.
Assisting William Gomes with production-related requests and logistical needs.
Identifying potential delays or scheduling conflicts and communicating them promptly.
Helping maintain a professional and organized environment throughout the day.
Assistants should anticipate what needs to happen next rather than waiting to be instructed for every individual task.
C. Editorial Documentation & Organization
Because multiple editorials will be photographed throughout the day, documentation must be organized and identifiable.
Assistants should pay attention to which model, editorial concept, and creative team are being photographed at any given time.
Responsibilities include:
Documenting each editorial separately.
Capturing identifiable behind-the-scenes material for each model.
Keeping track of which editorial sessions have been documented.
Ensuring that important production moments are not overlooked.
Recording relevant production details when requested.
Coordinating with William Gomes to ensure documentation is properly collected.
The objective is to have a usable visual record of every editorial produced throughout the day, including the SHADAI Magazine cover production.
D. General Photography Production Support
Although behind-the-scenes documentation is a primary responsibility, assistants may also be asked to provide general production support.
This may include:
Helping organize photography equipment and accessories.
Assisting with light stands, modifiers, and other equipment when requested.
Helping maintain the photography area.
Supporting the movement and organization of wardrobe.
Assisting with equipment relocation between setups.
Helping keep walkways and working areas clear.
Responding to production requests from William Gomes and SHAMAYIM.
All equipment should be handled carefully. Do not adjust lighting configurations, camera equipment, or active photography setups without authorization.
3. EXPECTATIONS FOR VISUAL DOCUMENTATION
The behind-the-scenes material is an important deliverable of this production.
We want footage that can eventually be used for:
SHAMAYIM Studios social media and promotional content.

SHADAI Magazine promotional campaigns.
Editorial production recaps.
Behind-the-scenes reels and short-form video.

Photography Expectations
Capture a combination of wide, medium, and close-up compositions.
Pay attention to framing, backgrounds, lighting, and visual distractions.
Keep images properly exposed and in focus.
Capture both candid and intentional production moments.
Be mindful of the visual aesthetic associated with SHAMAYIM Studios.
Avoid unnecessary clutter in compositions.

Prioritize stable footage and intentional framing.
Capture both vertical and horizontal footage when practical.
Record enough footage to communicate the atmosphere and progression of the production.
Capture movement, interactions, and details.
Avoid unnecessary camera movement and excessive zooming.
Make sure the subject is properly framed before recording.
Record clips long enough to be useful in post-production.
The goal is to capture material that can be edited into professional promotional content, not simply random recordings from the day.
4. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT & COMMUNICATION
All Second Photography Assistants are expected to maintain a professional demeanor throughout the production.
This includes:
Arriving on time and being prepared to work at 10:00 AM.
Following instructions from SHAMAYIM and William Gomes.
Maintaining professional communication with models and creative team members.
Being respectful of the creative process and individual responsibilities.
Remaining attentive and engaged throughout the production.
Avoiding unnecessary personal conversations while production is active.
Not interrupting SHAMAYIM while he is directing or photographing unless necessary.
Being mindful of the privacy and professionalism of the models and creative team.
Not sharing unpublished editorial photographs or production footage on personal social media without authorization.
This is a professional editorial production environment. Every member of the team contributes to the overall quality of the production.
5. EQUIPMENT & PREPARATION
Assistants responsible for behind-the-scenes documentation should arrive with the necessary equipment to capture both stills and video.
Please ensure the following:
A camera capable of capturing quality still photographs, if available.
A smartphone capable of recording high-quality video.
Fully charged batteries and devices.
Adequate storage space for photographs and video.
Charging cables and portable power banks.
Any necessary memory cards.
A clean camera lens and phone camera.
Smartphones are acceptable for video documentation provided the footage is captured thoughtfully and at the highest practical quality.
If you have a dedicated camera available for still photography, bring it.
Do not assume that SHAMAYIM Studios will have additional equipment available for personal documentation devices.
6. DELIVERABLES & FILE MANAGEMENT
All behind-the-scenes material captured during the production is to be provided to SHAMAYIM Studios.
Assistants should coordinate with William regarding the collection and transfer of files.
The documentation should include:
Behind-the-scenes still photographs from each editorial.
Video footage from each editorial.
Hair, makeup, and wardrobe preparation.
Photographer and model interactions.
Creative team documentation.
General studio and production environment footage.
SHADAI Magazine cover production documentation.
Please do not delete, filter, or discard original footage before the production team has confirmed that all files have been received.

9. FINAL EXPECTATIONS
The success of a production is not determined exclusively by the final photographs. It is also determined by the organization, preparation, collaboration, and execution that take place behind the camera.
SHAMAYIM Studios is producing multiple editorial concepts and a magazine cover within a single production day. This requires a team that understands the importance of time management, communication, attention to detail, and anticipating the needs of the production.
The Second Photography Assistants play an important role in making sure that the creative process is documented while the production continues to move efficiently.
Be observant. Be proactive. Be organized. Document everything that tells the story of the production.
We want to leave October 31 with not only several completed editorials and a SHADAI Magazine cover, but also a substantial collection of behind-the-scenes photography and video that reflects the creative direction, collaboration, and production capabilities of SHAMAYIM Studios.
