PHOTOGRAPHY ASSISTANT — LOS ANGELES

SHAMAYIM Studios is seeking a reliable, highly organized Photography Assistant to support SHAMAYIM during upcoming Los Angeles productions on:

August 16 8am-5pm

August 17 10am-6pm

Productions will take place in Downtown Los Angeles

AVAILABILITY

  • Must be available for full day

  • Must have reliable personal transportation

  • Must be comfortable traveling throughout Los Angeles for production-related needs

  • Must be punctual, professional, discreet, and highly organized

  • Prior experience in photography, content creation, production, fashion, or media is preferred but not required

This position begins as a trial working relationship between SHAMAYIM and the selected Photography Assistant.

The purpose of the initial engagement is to determine whether there is a natural and productive working relationship between the assistant and SHAMAYIM before moving into a longer-term position.

Working directly with SHAMAYIM requires more than simply completing assigned tasks. The right person must be able to understand his working style, anticipate needs, communicate appropriately, protect his time, and complement his personality and approach to production.

The initial engagement will provide an opportunity for both SHAMAYIM and the assistant to evaluate:

  • Communication and working compatibility

  • Reliability and punctuality

  • Initiative and problem-solving

  • Ability to anticipate needs

  • Professionalism and discretion

  • Ability to work independently

  • Interaction with clients and creative teams

  • Ability to support SHAMAYIM without disrupting his creative process

  • Overall chemistry and long-term potential

This is not intended to be a traditional one-time assistant assignment. It is the first step in determining whether the relationship can develop into a long-term position with increasing responsibility.

For the right person, the opportunity can progress from Jr Assistant → Second Assistant → First Assistant → Executive Assistant to SHAMAYIM.

The initial engagement is therefore an opportunity for both sides to work together, evaluate the fit, and determine whether there is a foundation for something longer-term.

This is a non-paid, experience-based opportunity designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on exposure within a professional fashion and creative production environment, with a strong emphasis on behind-the-scenes (BTS) content creation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Photography Assistant will support both production flow and behind-the-scenes documentation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Capturing behind-the-scenes photo and video content throughout production days

  • Assisting with documenting creative process, set moments, and candid interactions

  • Supporting SHAMAYIM with production-day coordination and general assistance

  • Helping maintain smooth workflow between creative, talent, and production teams

  • Running production-related errands when needed

  • Assisting with wardrobe movement, organization, and set preparation

  • Supporting transportation and logistics as required

  • Helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production environment

  • Communicating professionally with models, vendors, and creative collaborators when necessary

  • Anticipating needs and assisting before issues arise

  • Supporting SHAMAYIM so he can remain fully focused on the creative direction

  • Wardrobe Pickup and Drop Off

BEHIND-THE-SCENES CONTENT DIRECTION

SHAMAYIM's BTS content should feel like its own editorial, not documentation.

The visual language should be cinematic, editorial, candid, and iconic—capturing moments as they naturally happen throughout the production.

Focus on:

  • Candid model moments between setups

  • SHAMAYIM interacting with models and the creative team

  • Team dynamics and collaboration

  • Hair, makeup, wardrobe, lighting, and production details

  • Moments of concentration, movement, preparation, and spontaneity

  • The energy and atmosphere of the production

Never stage the model as though you are creating a final portfolio image. The model should always appear within the context of the production.

The goal is for someone viewing the BTS to feel as though they are inside the production, experiencing the creative process—not looking at a collection of behind-the-scenes snapshots.

Every image and video should have enough visual intention to stand on its own as an editorial story.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Must have a reliable vehicle (no public or shared transportation)

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving ability

  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence

  • Ability to work long, irregular hours when required by production schedules

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with calendars, email, documents, and digital tools
